Day #7 – Santa Maria – Santa Barbara – Guadalupe

Today we almost spent the whole day on the road. Early in the morning,
we drove down to Santa Barbara where we met with Paul Hoffmann
for a delicious breakfast at the famous Sambos restaurant.

As we all know, there's nothing like a decent breakfast in a seaside
restaurant. But my personal highlight was to drive Paul's 1940 Ford
Coupe! It's such a beautiful car and it drives and handles like a dream.

It was the first time for me to drive a 40s Ford.

After the breakfast in Santa Barbara we headed back north to
Guadalupe where Dani had an appointment with Gilbert in
his barber shop "Ninth Street".

He worked his magic but we're not gonna publish any finished pics as this
should be a suprise for his wife Monika. :-)

While driving from Santa Barbara to Guadalupe, or maybe it was on our
way back south, who knows, we came across some vintage cars once more.

It's so damn amazing what you find when you cruise the backstreets
of those small towns. In almost every street there's at least
one old car!

Nice truck.

The only thing I knew about Lompoc was that there are still the remains
of an old drive-in theatre. So we went there. It's a magic place.

We also drove through Solvang. It's inspired by some european places
but I couldn't figure out if it's really old or more like a marketing idea.
Gotta look for it on wikipedia or something.

View from the passenger side window.

Highway 154 in the evening sun.

The view was just amazing. And I love that light.

Our sticker lost some of its color. Maybe we need a new one.

  1. I love that california evening sun!

And I'm excited to see Dani's new hair (although I'm not Monika) :-)
